Really like this hotel! The location is excellent particularly if you like Broadway shows in the evening. The staff is very professional and always helpful. The only complaint I have with my current stay is that I thought I was getting an upgraded room because of my early booking through Travel Website. I've stayed there 4 times before and this was definitely the smallest room I've ever been booked into. Don't quite understand why.

The room was spacious and clean; the staff was very helpful with information, how to get to places, etc. The restaurant inside, Norma's, is excellent for brunch but pricey ($* $*) The bar was OK but dark. The Burger Joint, also inside the hotel, had very long lines and no place to sit down--so you can be waiting for a half an hour in ljne, another 20 minutes for your order, and have to eat outside in the lobby. The burger was good but not that good.] There's a pool on top of the building that a lot of families used. However, it's probably not necessary, as there's plenty to do in NYC.

Physically and by location not a bad hotel. However, when we went to checkout we were presented with a bill that significantly exceeded in price the quote I had obtained from them online. They said they were charging an additional $*/night for a rollaway bed for my child even though my online receipt clearly listed 3 guests as well as detailed other charges which did not include the bed charge. Other gripes: expensive internet access, a stiff additional fees to use the exercise facility and business center, and a room so hot I had trouble sleeping- and with no temperature controls in the room.

Hotel was nice, a bit stuffy. Very clean rooms and common areas. The coffee bar also which also served beers and wine was grossly over priced. Paid $for a tap beer in a wine glass which was abour 4 oz's. Better off going down the street. Did not eat in the restaurant.

Having stayed in a Meridien property in Barcelona, my family and I were intrigued by the relatively low advertised price for this property, given especially the location (W. 56th) and decided to deviate from our normal hotel of choice (The London, at W. 54th) for a couple of days of XMas shopping. We won't go back. In general, we didn't find the staff to be particularly helpful, at all, amplified by our difficulty in getting the front desk to arrange for transportation to the airport. The property is in need of an "update" of more than just furnishings. The rooms are of an adequate size, but nothing speical. The location is great, and I suppose that our experience was abnormal, but given the years of great experiences at The London (formerly the Rhiga Royal) we were really disappointed.
